I am Martina Martín, a dancer, choreographer and teacher. My artistic journey has developed between classical and contemporary dance, performance and creation, and across different contexts and ways of understanding the stage.

I trained in classical dance at the Mariemma Professional Dance Conservatory in Madrid, where I completed my studies in 2012. That same year, I joined Ballet Mainz as an apprentice, under the direction of Pascal Touzeau. After returning to Madrid, I began shifting my interest towards contemporary dance, working with the company caraBdanza and taking part in workshops with artists from different backgrounds.

In 2016, I moved to Querétaro, Mexico, where I became part of the Proart project as a teacher, performer and choreographer. There I worked with young performers, took part in festivals such as Ibérica Contemporánea and collaborated on interdisciplinary projects such as VeozDanza. In 2017, together with this company, we won first prize at the Ibérica Contemporánea Choreographic Competition.

That same year, I began expanding my training into other languages and contexts. I took part in BODYTRAFFIC’s Spring Workshop and later continued my training in Los Angeles and New York, attending spaces such as Millennium Dance Complex, Eden Studios and Steps on Broadway.

In 2018, I returned to Madrid to study for the Higher Degree in Choreography and Performance of Contemporary Dance at the María de Ávila Higher Dance Conservatory. At the same time, I continued developing my work as a performer and creator. Among these projects was Cartes postals d’un migrant, a creation together with musician Pepe Pereira and the company Led Silhouette, whose excerpt received first prize at the Young Creators’ Choreographic Competition of the Community of Madrid.

In 2019, a knee injury forced me to stop working for more than six months. This break also became a turning point: it led me to rethink my relationship with the body, the profession and creation, and to look for new contexts from which to continue growing.

That same year, I moved to Mannheim, Germany. There I took part in the Freiburg Artistic Development Programme and in the production of Wozzeck, before the pandemic interrupted much of the performing arts activity. During this period, I continued researching through my own work and collaborations with Nostos Tanztheater. One of my solos, States, was selected in 2021 for the Zukunft Tanz and Solocoreografico festivals in Frankfurt.

During my time in Germany, I worked as a performer with different companies and artists, including Volkstheater Rostock, where I was part of its productions for one season and also developed choreographic work, as well as La Trottier Dance Collective and choreographer Sade Mamedova.

As a creator, I have presented work at festivals such as Lange Nacht der Kurzen Stücke in Karlsruhe and Zukunft Tanz in Frankfurt, as well as developing site-specific pieces in collaboration with cultural associations such as LionsArt. Since 2024, I have created and premiered several projects, including A Harmless Little Show, Columnism, Hänsel & Gretel Re-invented, Whimsy Wiggle Wonderland, Contradictions of Belonging, created for the students of Dance Professional Mannheim, and Commedia dell’arte.

Teaching is also part of my artistic practice. I have worked as a teacher at Dance Professional Mannheim and as a professional training instructor for the company Volkstheater Rostock, as well as collaborating with training spaces such as Aki Kato Tanzforum and EinTanzHaus. I understand teaching not as a separate activity from creation, but as another space for researching the body, its possibilities and its ways of relating.

In 2025, I returned to Spain. My return began with first prize at the Vallecas en Danza Choreographic Competition for Commedia dell’arte and with my appointment as a substitute teacher at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Teresa Souan Bernal de Murcia.

In July 2026, I founded LA TREINTAYTRES (the thirty-three), a company through which I am beginning a new stage dedicated to the development of my choreographic work.
